(SUBHAN ALI      Batch 2010      Roll No.15     Pakistani)

Hi, I am Dr. SUBHAN ALI from Pakistan. Today I want to share my experience regarding studying and working in China. It was 28th December 2010 when I landed on the land of china having a lot of ambitions in my mind, as I was in my teenage I had a lot of energy and was looking forward towards my goals. In order to pursue my dream I chose China to get my MBBS degree from. I got accepted to Jiujiang University into their MBBS program Imagine walking onto a plane and travelling miles away from your homeland to spend the 5 years of your college career in a completely different place, well that was something that I personally experienced. It was probably the most exciting, yet nerve-wracking thing that I had ever done in my life. I got on a plane and went to China for a full 5 years as a new freshman in medical college. When I was leaving my home I was sad and anxious to be leaving but once I arrived China I couldn’t hold my excitement. Specially when I met Chinese people and faculty members I took a deep breath of satisfaction that I made the right decision at the right time. The time I spent there was probably the best time of my life.

In those years I experienced a different culture, ate new foods, made lifelong friends, travelled to other places and learned to be independent. I accomplished all this while learning and taking a full course load and getting good grades at the university. I made friendships that are so tight I would call them family, and I hold memories that I will treasure until the end of time.

During my student life, all the teachers and the faculty members were so generous and cooperative that after graduation I decided to work there as well, because I never wanted to leave China and my lovely friends that I made there. So I worked there for years. One of the most incredible fact of studying and working abroad was the opportunity to make new friends from all over the world.

I will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to study and work in China.

Nowadays I am back to Pakistan and I am working here as a house officer (HO) in Saidu teaching hospital Swat (kpk). All my senior doctors and colleagues are very much satisfied with my performance. I have also worked as a front line worker during covid-19 pandemic.

Studying abroad is a brief transition from one’s home to a college in another part of the world. Staying and spending my golden years in China taught me a lot about myself and gave me a worldview I would not have without this experience or would not have developed until much later.

I could never forget those days and I still cherish the memories I made in China and I would love to visit it again to meet my Chinese friends.

我爱中国!
